Multiliteracies and communications media

Reference:
Multiliteracies and communications media. (n.d). Queensland government (Australia) Retrieved on March 31,2011, from http://education.qld.gov.au/corporate/newbasics/html/curric-org/comm.html

Summary:
In this article, the author explained how to understand and communicate with today’s world by four elements. The New Basics category (Multiliteracies and communications media) is actually using codes to exchange the messages, texts, and information. But the old technologies that we have used for a long period of time such as writing, reading, speaking, arithmetic, and so on are still important in Multiliteracies and communications media. Mastering the old skills and blending, and dealing with both new and old technologies are the key to communicating with the world.

Reaction:
This article is too difficult for me to read and understand about the content. It is my honest feeling. Recently we have already used the new technologies such as the internet, email, and so on. When I read this article, I was relieved that we also need the old skills because I am bad at the new technologies represented in the computer technologies. I think, however, the ancient skill is the most important for us to communicate with people living in other cultures or speaking in other languages because we cannot tell about ourselves without mastery of the basic skills.
